FREMONT -- Jean Newsome Thorne, 67, died Sunday.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Wilson followed by interment in Elmwood Cemetery.
She retired from BB and T and was the daughter of the late Nathan and Emily Minshew Newsome.
An active community volunteer, she lead the first Daffodil Festival in Fremont and served on the Aycock Birthplace Advisory Board as well as service in the Fremont Garden Club. She was a member of Frank Price Presbyterian Church.
Surviving is her husband, Jimmie D. Thorne; sons, Michael Thorne and Corey of Fremont and Steven Thorne and Angie of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Kyle, Andrew and Emily Thorne; sisters, Judy O'Neal and Joel of Fremont, Nancy Mooring and Allen of Rocky Mount, Linda Huggins and Van of Kinston; brother, N.L. "Buck" Newsome of Fremont; mother-in-law, Retha Lamm Thorne of Fremont.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
