SALLYE R. NEWSOME

Sallye Raynor Newsome was born Oct. 29, 1929 to the late Charlie and Louise Cox Raynor. God and His infinite wisdom called her home on Sept. 9.

Funeral services will be held Monday at noon at St. Mark Church of Christ with bishop Alton Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in Everette Cemetery in Raynortown.

Mrs. Newsome was educated in the Johnston County School system. She graduated from Richard B. Harrison High School in Selma. Sallye was employed at Cherry Hospital as a healthcare technician for over 30 years until she retired.

Sallye Newsome, as most every called her at St. Mark, joined the fellowship under the leadership of Bishop J.L. Melvin in February 1971. She was a faithful member of the St. Mark Senior Choir. While an active member, Sallye loved to be in the kitchen at St. Mark serving others and loved to held as much as possible. Sallye attended church faithfully until her health failed.

Mrs. Newsome was married to Leslie Devon Newsome who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death, besides her parents, were two sisters, Ozzie Raynor and Heloise Pearce.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Donnell and Jerry Raynor of Goldsboro; one daughter-in-law, Myra Raynor of Goldsboro; one aunt, Ada Herron of Goldsboro; one uncle, Henry Cox of Philadelphia, Pa.; four grandchildren, Andre Hunter, Brenda, and Erica Kennon of Raleigh, Lynette Peten and Keith of Goldsboro, Jamie Jacobs and Toya of Greene County; one special cousin, Minnie Beverly; and other special relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of her son Jerry, 322 Charlie Braswell Road, where they will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
