STANTONSBURG -- Shirley Batts Bell, 72, died Thursday.
Visitation will be held on Saturday at Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church, 425 Watery Branch Church Road, Stantonsburg, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Foy Houston, and the Rev. A.G. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Eureka Town Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late William Arthur Batts and Katie Baines Batts. She was preceded in death by a brother Clarence Batts.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Donnie C. Bell of the home; daughters, Terry Lynn Bell, of Burlington, Tonya Bell Watkins, and husband, Allen, of Watery Branch; son, Donnie "Bucky" Bell, and wife, Pam, of Watery Branch; sisters, Ruth Rawls, of Wilson, Doris Rice, and husband, Jerry, of Wilson; brother, David Batts, and wife, Brenda, of Watery Branch; grandchildren, Michael Bowers, Donnie Bell II, Michelle Chamberlin, Allen Bell, Alexis Bell, Ashlyn Watkins, Annabelle Watkins, Addison "Abigail" Watkins; great grandchildren, Michael Dylan Bowers, Donnie Bell II, and Liberty Bell.
Shirley was a loving mother and wife who taught love, peace, and Jesus to her family. She loved her church family, sisters, and brothers. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved and cherished her moments with Donnie and relied on him for all earthy things and Jesus for all heavenly things.
