CHESTER B. MELVIN

Chester Booth Melvin, 84, 508 Old Mount Olive Highway, died late Tuesday night at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie McClure and Pastor Al Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Edward J. Sr. and Lola Edwards Melvin, wife of the late Annie Rowe Melvin and grandfather of the late Nick Melvin. A former supervisor with Ervin and Edwards Metal Fabrication. Mr. Melvin was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a member of Goldsboro Wesleyan Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Mr. Melvin is survived by his daughter, Shelia M. Heath of the home; a son, Chester Dale Melvin and wife, Brenda of Dudley; three grandchildren, Lori Howington and her husband, Nick of Goldsboro, Keri Brooke Heath of the home, Chris Melvin of Goldsboro; two great-grandsons, Cuyler and Brady Howington both of Goldsboro; and a special friend, Melanie Sanders of Goldsboro.

The family will greet friends Wednesday night from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of his son, Dale Melvin, 121 Hollybrook Lane, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
