HADESSA D. LEWIS

Dec. 9, 1930 - July 27, 2008

Mrs. Hadessa Durham Lewis, 78, 4151 U.S. Highway 70 E., lovingly known by her family as "Dash," departed this life on Sunday to enter into eternal rest.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 928 New Hope Road, with presiding Elder Franklin L. Rush officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery, 304 Wood Peck Road.

A viewing will be conducted on Friday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., from 1 to 6 p.m. A wake will be held on Friday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel from 5 to 6 p.m. with the family in attendance to receive other family members and friends.

Dash was born to the Late Kirby Durham Sr. and Olivia Middleton Durham on Dec. 9, 1930. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years Alfonza Lewis of the home. From this union, two sons were born; Murle Reese "Bertha" and Rene; two grandchildren, Duane D. Lewis and Sadarria M. Lewis; one great-grandchild, Kayla A. Jones; one sister, Emma Eans; one brother, Kirby Durham Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

At other times the family will receive friends at the residence, 4151 U.S. Highway 70 E., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
