Preacher Robert "Bob" Wayne Decker, 80, passed away Saturday morning surrounded by his family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Son of the late Jesse Earl and Bertha Jane Hege Decker, he was born and raised in Wells County, Ind. A graduate of Bob Jones University, he pastored several churches during his 38 years of ministry in the Independent Baptist Church. Most recently, he enjoyed preaching in the Sunday morning chapel service at the Kirkwood Retirement Community where he resided.

The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Leslie Holt and Dann Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

The Rev. Decker is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Smith Decker; son, Duane K. Decker and wife, Deborah, of Ellsworth, Maine; daughters, Sharon Massey and husband, James, of Princeton, Jeanette Ludwig and husband, Eric, of Goldsboro, Rhonda Wooten of Kinston, and Melody Parrish and husband, Kevin, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Jamie Massey, Stephanie Harris, Alison Wilson, Sarah Decker, Rachel Decker, Brooke Wooten, Erin Wooten, Andrew Parrish and David Parrish; and step-grandchildren, Bryan Ludwig and Brent Ludwig; great-grandchildren Gracelyn Massey, Wesley Massey, Mandy Harris, Jacob Harris, Gavin Wilson, Payton Wilson and step-great-grandchild, Joey Harris.

The Rev. Decker was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his brothers, Max, Paul, and Herman Decker; and sisters, Grace Faus and Alta Mae Wilson.

The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Melody and Kevin Parrish, 605 Chafin Road.
