Master Sgt. George Randle Smith, 72, died Tuesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Toler officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Raleigh National Cemetery.
George was born in Alamance County on Aug. 12, 1935, to the late George Smith and Mary Elizabeth Smith. He had retired from the United States Air Force with 24 years of service.
George is survived by his wife, Joyce McClenny Smith; his children, Catherine Moore and husband, David, of Snow Hill, Charles Smith of LaGrange, and George Smith Jr. and wife, Brenda of Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-children, Karee Koob and husband, Steve, of Raleigh, Melba Anderson of Raleigh and Kavin Kuhlman of Goldsboro; and his sister, Sylvia Ann Smith Brady and husband, Sam, of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
