Mrs. Sallie Lee Holmes Nelson, 319 Miller Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, with Pastor Louis Leigh officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, 2925 U.S. 117 south, Goldsboro, N.C. A wake will be conducted Wednesday, June 25, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, N.C.
Sallie was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Wayne County to the late Lewis T. and Sadie Josephine Holmes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Nelson; two brothers, James T. Holmes and Mack C. Holmes; and one sister, Rosa Mae Holmes-Perry.
To cherish her memory, she leaves behind one sister, Mrs. Geraldine Fryar, and brother-in-law, William Fryar of Temple Hill, Md.; six nieces, including one devoted niece, Vera Jean Perry-Stewart of Washington, D.C.; two nephews; one goddaughter, Vanjill Williams of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
At other times, Mrs. Vera Jean Perry-Stewart and the family will receive other family members and friends at the home of the late Mrs. Sallie Lee Nelson, 319 Miller Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530
