CLINTON -- Jestine "Jake" Jackson Elmore, 81, 516 Stewart Ave., died Wednesday at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
The funeral was May 23 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ron Cava officiated. Interment was in Clinton Cemetery.
A Sampson County native, she was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Docia Jackson.
She was a homemaker, member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Delbridge A. Jackson.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dewey P. Elmore of the home; a son, Stephen Elmore and wife, Barbara, of Clinton; a daughter, Sherrie Elmore Cogdell and husband, George Cogdell, of Goldsboro; a son, John E. Elmore and wife, Jennifer, of Greenville; a sister, Nida B. Parson of Roseboro; and nine grandchildren, Amy Elmore, Eric Elmore, Ed Cogdell, Caroline Cogdell, Ben Cogdell, Jenny Elmore, Jack Elmore, Joseph Elmore and Janey Elmore.
