RAY SMITH

MOUNT OLIVE -- James Ray Smith, 84, of 334 N.C. 403 East, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at SunBridge Care Center.
A retired farmer of the Rones Chapel community, he was the son of the late Edgar and Mattie Davis Smith and was husband of the late Edna Earle Swinson Smith.He was a member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Ray and Susie Smith of Mount Olive; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce S. and Warren Massey of Wendell; four grandchildren, Vickie Smith and fiance Nathan Mutter, Michael Smith, Jeff Massey and wife Pat and Laura and husband Brien Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Audrey Massey, and Jeffrey and Joshua Smith. He is predeceased by a son, Royce Smith.
Services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation following, and at other times the family will be at the residence.
Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery on Saturday at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rones Chapel United Methodist Church.
