Eileen Canada Thornton died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Golds-boro, N.C. Mrs. Thornton was born in Lynchburg, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Johnston Thornton, and her son Richard Presley Thornton.
Survivors include her daughter, Sterling Jarrett and husband, Tommy, of Golds-boro; her son, Robert Thorn-ton and wife, Sarah, of Columbus, Ohio; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hoover and husband, Shane, Richard Jarrett and wife, Meredith, Neal Jarrett, Ben, John, and Mary Thornton; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Thomas Norris OSFS officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery. A visitation will be held following a wake prayer service at the church on Monday at 7 p.m.
The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Sterling and Tommy Jarrett at 1607 Evergreen Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
