THE REV. WILLIAM J. TYNER JR.

The Rev. William Jay "W.J." Tyner Jr., 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Homegoing services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The Rev. Tyner was born in Johnston County on Sept. 5, 1931, to the late William Jasper Tyner and Maddress McLamb Tyner. The Rev. Tyner was a member of Riverside Free Will Baptist Church in Princeton. He was a retired Free Will Baptist Church minister of area churches including Spring Hill, Black Jack, Daly's Chapel of LaGrange and Eastover of Fayetteville.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude Tyner; two sons, Gary Tyner of Grantham, Terry Tyner and his wife, Kathy, of Grantham; one sister, Irene Capps of Micro; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home other times at the residence at 3725 Stevens Mill Road.
