ELMON HOWELL

Died Sept. 7, 1915

PRINCETON -- Elmon Waylon Howell, 92, of Howell Road near Princeton, died Friday. Born in Johnston County on Sept. 7, 1915, he was the son of the late John Richard and Minnie Massengill Howell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lillie Pearl Daughtry Howell. Mr. Howell was a long-time active member of Hephzibah Baptist Church, having served as a trustee, deacon and member of both the cemetery committee and the building and grounds committee. A lifelong farmer, he served on the Farmer's Home Administration and was a member of the Board of Directors of Triangle Insurance Group in Smithfield.

The funeral will be held Monday, April 21, 2008, at 11 a.m. in Hephzibah Baptist Church, with entombment following in the church cemetery. The Revs. Matt Munday, Craig Langdon, and Steve Stephenson will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton.

Surviving are his daughter, Geraldine Reardon and her husband, Sherwood, of Princeton; sisters, Allene Olivadoti of Massachusetts, Elizabeth Lewis of Goldsboro, Louise Raines of Mebane, Lucille Hinnant of Princeton and Mary Herring of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jamie Massey, Michael Massey and Michelle Langdon, all of Princeton; and seven great-grandchildren.
