PRINCETON - Dolores Godwin Holt, 77, went peacefully to be with her Lord and savior on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Born April 22, 1930, in Selma, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Walter Berry and Lillian Elizabeth Hales Godwin and was the widow of N. Graham Holt, who died Nov.19, 1995. She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Berry Godwin Jr., and two sisters, Mary Jeanne Godwin Pate and Walda Godwin Johnson. Dolores was very active in the Princeton United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. She was a past president and secretary of the Princeton United Methodist Women and assistant organist and pianist for more than 40 years. She has also served as the treasurer of the Princeton Women's Improvement Club and was the librarian of the Princeton Public Library, both for more than 20 years. She was on the Board of the Johnston County Library and the Johnston County Tuberculosis Association for many years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Princeton United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Michael Coppock, Richard "Dick" Lewis and her nephew, Dr. Gray Southern, officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Holt Barber and Dr. Joseph G. Barber; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Graham Holt and Tammy W. Holt, and Clifton Godwin Holt and Kimberly T. Holt, all of Princeton and seven grandchildren, Caleb Graham Holt, Noah David Holt, Holden Jack Holt, Hart Jacob Holt, Kenna Lillian Holt, Nicholas Ray Melvin and Leslie Nicole Melvin.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Children's Ministry of the Princeton United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 116, Princeton, N.C. 27569.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton.
