Nancy Mae Richardson, 71, of 212 Nottingham Drive, gently entered the arms of Jesus on Monday at her residence.

Her life will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ with Bishop Alton Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in Old Mill Cemetery.

Mrs. Richardson is a loving, faithful and dedicated mother of eight, born to Harvester and Mable Cox Richardson, who preceded her in death. She was born and reared in Princeton, N.C. She attended Richard B. Harris School in Selma, N.C., until the 11th grade, then attended Dillard High School in Goldsboro, N.C., graduating in the class of 1953. She was an honor graduate from Wayne Community College and received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from North Carolina Wesleyan College. She was employed by O'Berry Center until her illness resulted in her medically retiring in 1992. She was preceded in death by her older brother, James K. Richardson.

Mrs. Richardson was a dedicated member of St. Luke Disciples of Christ where she was a member for many years. She was a member of the Senior Choir and other clubs. She later moved her membership to St. Mark Church of Christ where she was a faithful and dedicated member until her death.

She leaves to mourn her sister, Rosa Lee Wooten of Pines Assisted Living of Goldsboro; eight children, Deborah Jones and husband, Drussell, of Goldsboro, Walter Richardson and wife, Saundra, of Laurel, Md., Nancy Carolyn Perry and husband, Willie, of Raleigh, N.C., Cheryl Richardson of Raleigh, N.C., Mable Knight and husband, Kevin, of Killeen, Texas, Sharon Richardson of the home, Anthony Richardson and Betty Richardson, both of Goldsboro, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, Goldsboro. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
