LILLIE SASSER CARLISLE MITCHELL

Lillie Sasser Carlisle Mitchell, 82, of Wilson went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 13, after a long battle with illness. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Joyner's Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Benny Poythress will officiate.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a strong woman who fought for life and cared for her family and friends. She was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church, Downing Street, Wilson.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by four daughters, JoAnn Edwards and husband, Russell, of Lucama, Barbara Edwards and husband, Junior, of Lucama, Rachel Griffin and husband, Tommy, of Wilson and Debbie Skinner and husband, Bobby, of Wilson; two sons, Larry Carlisle and wife, Shirley, of Lucama and Eddie Carlisle and wife, Patricia, of Fremont; 14 grandchildren, Jason Skinner and wife, Ashley, of Wilson, Johnathan Skinner and wife, Amber, of Wilson, Shelia Allen and husband, Eric, of Lucama, David Jr. "Shorty" Griffin and wife, Karen, of Arizona, Russell Jr. "Buddy" Edwards of Wilson, Elvis Edwards and wife, Rebecca, of Kenly, Connie Hall of Bailey, Marsha Rae Grady of Lucama, Linda Connelly and husband, Steve, of Wilson, Larry Harrell Carlisle of Lucama, Tammy Lee of Bailey, Lora Mooring of Bailey, Andrew Carlisle of Fremont, and Matthew Carlisle of Fremont; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and her companion dog, Boo-Boo.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, four sisters, five brothers, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and at other times at the home she resided in with Debbie and Bobby Skinner at 4323 Kenroy Road.
