PRINCETON -- Carl R. "Bob" Gurley Jr., 66, owner and operator of Gurley Seeds and Gurley Auto Sales, died Thursday morning at his home. He was born in Johnston County to the late Carl Roberts and Martitia Holt Gurley. He was a member of the first graduating class of the N.C. State Agriculture Institute. Bob was also a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church and the Princeton Lions Club.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Princeton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Coppock officiating. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Pat Gurley; sons, Carl Gurley III and wife, Jessi, of Princeton, Charles Gurley and wife, Angie, of Goldsboro; daughters, Constance Kornegay and husband, Barry, Beth Oljaca and husband, Mark, all of Goldsboro; stepson, Jeff Johnson and wife, Mary, of Raleigh; stepdaughter, Jennifer Wade and husband, John, of Raleigh; sisters, Peggy Thompson and husband, Merlin, of Raleigh, Imogene Capps and husband, Elmer, of Princeton, Connie Oliver and husband, Berry, of Pine Level; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton.
