GEORGE C. LANE

George Carver Lane, 73, of 143 Mobile Circle, died Monday at his residence. Born in Duplin County, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary Carter Lane. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Pastor Willard Hardison will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Lane is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Lib" Lane; five daughters, Carolyn Ann Edwards of Dudley, Mary Ann Passmore of Mooresville, N.C., Georgia Faye Davis of Dudley, Cathy Jane Lane of Dudley, Gracie Marie Edwards of Pikeville; two brothers, Bill Lane of Goldsboro, Marvin Lane of Garner; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Family members will receive friends Wednesday evening immediately following the service.
