Died Feb. 24, 2008

Myrtle Pelt Anderson, 89, a resident of the Kirkwood Retirement Community, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Etta Hope Bartlett Pelt and the widow of William Cooper Anderson. Mrs. Anderson was a sales clerk at F.W. Woolworth for 34 years and was a birthright member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting. She was also a member of the Kirkwood Red Hats Society.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Goldsboro Friends Meeting with David Brindle officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her daughters, Virginia Hope Meyerhoeffer and husband, Ed, of Goldsboro, Kay Sills and husband, Del, of Camden, S.C.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Pelt Turnage, Hazel Pelt Herring, Lena Pelt Dawson; and her brothers, Johnnie Pelt, Robert Pelt, Arthur Pelt, Tommy Pelt and Walter Pelt.

Flowers are welcome and memorials may be made to Goldsboro Friends Meeting, 700 Guilford St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law at 605 E. Raintree Lane in the Hood Swamp community.
