EDWIN R. CHESTNUTT

Edwin Rudolph "Rudy" Chestnutt, 81, went to be with the Lord he served so faithfully on Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Rudy was born to the late William Chestnutt and Lillie Pate Chestnutt. He was the owner and operator of Rudy's Mart on Highway 70 West. Rudy had previously worked as an insurance agent with Life and Casualty Insurance Company. Rudy served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was an active and faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church where he served as an usher for many years.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 7 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Kay Hinson Chestnutt; his son, James Edwin Chestnutt and wife, Pam, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Jonathan Chestnutt and Jordan Chestnutt; his brother, James Arnold Chestnut and wife, Jewel; his sisters, Eloise Baker and husband, J.Y., of Clayton, Mary L. Parks and husband, Harold, of Pine Knoll Shores, Verla Tew and husband, John, of Goldsboro; his sister-in-law, Adelle Chestnutt of Goldsboro; his brother-in-law, Jim Hinson and wife, Cindy, of Goldsboro; his special nephew, Jay Chestnutt and wife, Laverne; other nephews include, Michael Miller Chestnutt, Stanley Chestnutt and wife, Edith, Dwight Chestnutt and wife, Debbie, Randy J. Baker and wife, Jacque, S. Wayne Baker and wife, Kim, Brian Parks, Edwin Glenn Parks and wife, Brenda, Zack Hinson and wife, Hope, Adam Hinson; and his nieces, Emily J. High and husband, Louis, Beth Holloman and husband, Bruce, Alease Connors and husband, Lance, Renee' Turnage and husband, Joe, Joy Tew Bissette and husband, Dennis, Alice H. Cordell and husband, Matt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elwood Chestnutt; and a nephew, Kelvin Parks.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. and immediately following the service at Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
