LaGRANGE -- Ruby Baker Gray, 89, of 511 S. Caswell St., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Mrs. Gray was born in Lenoir County to the late Jack and Lura Hight Baker. She was wife of the late Marvin H. Gray and was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Gray; granddaughter, Glenda Gray Lee; sister, Lillian Carawan; and brother, James A. Baker. Mrs. Gray was a longtime member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church and the Wilson Circle. She was a member of Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Gray enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading.

Funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Hobgood officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Gray is survived by five children and children-in-law, Marvin H. and Barbara Sue Gray of Cape Carteret, Charles L. and Rebecca Gray of LaGrange, Kathryn G. and Aubrey Hart of LaGrange, Elizabeth G. "Libby" and Lloyd Guggenberger of Summerfield, Fla., and Hilda G. Sutton of LaGrange; two sisters, Virginia Varnell and Hazel Baker, both of LaGrange; two half-brothers, Clarence Baker of Kinston and Linwood Baker; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Ellen Carlyle for her loving care.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.
