Robert E. Lee Harris, 85, formerly of Durham, died Wednesday at his home.
Robert was born in Durham to the late Dock Harris and Maggie Massey Harris. He was married to the late Katherine Gross Harris. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans in Durham. He retired from Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company in Durham.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Adcock and John Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Robert is survived by his son, Dale E. Harris and wife, Elisabeth, of Goldsboro; his daughter, Debra Carmichael and husband, Dr. Kim Carmichael, of St. Louis, Mo.; his grandchildren, Michael Harris of Milwaukee, Donna Harris of Milwaukee, Nicholas Harris of Goldsboro; his great-granddaughter, Rene'e Harris of Milwaukee and great-grandson, Robert E. Harris.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Goldsboro Gospel Church Building Fund, 1806 E. Mulberry St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 103 Lee St., Goldsboro.
