ROXIE P. HAMILTON

WAKE FOREST -- Roxie Pennington Hamilton, 89, died Monday. She was born in Johnston County to the late Mallie and Docia Adams Pennington and was married to the late Wilson Johnson and the late John R. Hamilton. She was a graduate of Grantham High School, attended Louisburg College and she received her license as an LPN in Kinston. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro and attended Woodland Baptist Church in Wake Forest. She was also a member of TOPS Chapter No. 31 in Goldsboro and then Chapter No. 669 in Wake Forest.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Woodland Baptist Church in Wake Forest. Dr. Tommy Seedorf will be officiating.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda J. Miles of Greenville, S.C.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruby Kilpatrick of Prattville, Ala.; and many special nieces and nephews. Since 2001 she has resided with Gene and Daphne Woodall, stepdaughter of her late husband.

The family will be receiving friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 190 Woodland Church Road, Wake Forest, N.C. 27587.
