Joseph Clarence "Murdock" Vinson Jr., 70, of 313 Friendly Drive, died Monday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

J.C. was born in Wayne County on Sept. 2, 1937, to the late Joseph C. Vinson Sr. and Julia Cox Vinson. He had worked for the Snack and Cue in Goldsboro for 10 years and had also worked for Burlington Manufacture for eight years.

Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

Mr. Vinson is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lucille Vinson; his brothers, Thomas E. Vinson III of Angier, Carlton Russell Vinson of Rhode Island and John H. Vinson of Goldsboro; his sisters, Betty Lila V. White of Sequin, Texas, Julia Carol V. Gaskins of Goldsboro and Edna Earl V. White of Jourdanton, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his foster sister and brothers, Patricia Riggs, Bobby Lee Parnell and Edward Parnell; and special friends, Bernard and Mavone Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Prentice Franklin Vinson and a foster brother, James Parnell.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
