Died Dec. 31, 2007
Daniel Alex Ward, 77, of 1509 Juniper St., died Monday. A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Daniel Vincent Ward and Hallie P. Pate. Dan was the owner-operator of Dan Ward Motor Co. for over 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Goldsboro Elk's Lodge No. 139 B.P.O.E. Dan served his country proudly in the United States Army.
Funeral to celebrate Dan's life will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Dan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Melba Ginn Ward; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Fuller Royal of Whiteville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel A. and Charline Ward Jr. of Wake Forest and James Craig Ward and special friend JoAnn R. Grant of Goldsboro; four granddaughters, Allison, Sarah, Lillie and Natalie Royal. Dan is also survived by a sister, Susan Johnson of Montgomery, Ala., and a brother, Thomas Ward of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in memory of Dan to First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and will be at the residence at other times.
