TARBORO -- Wade Fleetwood Jr., 83, formerly of Dunbar, W.Va., died Saturday after a brief illness. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Mr. Fleetwood was a chemical engineering graduate of Auburn University and retired from Union Carbide. He was a WWII veteran retiring as a major from the U.S. Army Reserve. In Tarboro, he was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was also a longtime volunteer with the Hospice and VOICE programs.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Fleetwood of Tarboro; sons, Tom Fleetwood of Goldsboro, N.C. and William Fleetwood of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
