EVANGELIST THELMA HAMILTON

Evangelist Thelma Hamilton was born to Nillie Coley on Oct. 15, 1950, in Greene County. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 10, 2007.

She was educated in the Greene County and Wayne County school systems and graduated from Norwayne High School in 1968. Thelma received a Bachelor's degree of Business from Mount Olive College in 2002.

"Ree" as she was affectionately called joined White Oak Grove F.W.B. Church as a young adult. She became an associate minister in 1976 and was later appointed assistant pastor. She also worked in various positions in the church. She truly loved the Lord and she is no longer suffering and is in his loving arms. She retired from O'Berry Center in 2002.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Lee Hamilton Sr. and to the union she was blessed with three children.

The homegoing celebration will be held Saturday at noon at the White Oak Original Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. George Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. today with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Staff Sgt. Clarence L. Hamilton Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C.; two daughters, Shantel Vaughn and husband, Michael, of Goldsboro, N.C. and Cotillion Hamilton of the home; her mother, Nillie Coley and devoted stepfather, William Coley, of Goldsboro, N.C.; two brothers, James Barrett of Goldsboro, N.C. and Jesse Snead of Snow Hill; three sisters, Barbara Snead, Julia Brunson and Sadie Tuton, all of Snow Hill; three uncles, Willie Barrett and wife, Racheal, Joe Ben Barrett, all of Goldsboro and Henry Barrett of Windsor, N.C.; two aunts, Ella Mae Mosely and Mary Barrett, both of Snow Hill; seven grandchildren, Candyce, Shauntoya, Sharadiant, Kylah, Jaylen, Sharita and Michaela; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a dear brother, Jasper Barrett.

Arrangements are by McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
