BEN FRANK ALPHIN

MOUNT OLIVE -- Ben Frank Alphin, 78, of 156 Alum Springs Road, died Tuesday in Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Elwood Oliver officiating. Burial to follow in Potter Family Cemetery at Albertson.

He was preceded in death by a son, W.T. Gufford; his parents, Terrance and Queenie Turner Alphin; a sister, Magdaline A. Keathley; and three brothers, Roosevelt, Willard and Yancey Alphin.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Potter Alphin; two sons, Joe Alphin and his wife, Candace, of Pink Hill, James Glenn "Jim" Gufford and his wife, Betty, of Mount Olive; a daughter, Nancy Haney of Mount Olive; two grandsons, Michael Haney and James Allen "Jim" Gufford, both of Mount Olive; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Bass, Dawn Bass and Bradley Pike; and his beloved canine companion, "Jody."

He had been employed with Blizzard & Holmes Mill, had been a farmer, was custodian at B.F. Grady School, and more recently, he was employed with Steve Grady Farms.

He was a member of the Alum Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9 p.m., and at other times at the residence.
