Charles Delano "Winky" Brown, 70, of 262 Brock Road, died suddenly on Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Charles was born in Wayne County to the late James Ira Brown and Ida Baker Brown. He retired from Stackhouse, also known as Mastec, with 40 years of service. Charles was a member of Highest Praise Tabernacle and the Woodmen of the World. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Mills officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Charles is survived by his children, Jimmy Brown of Grantham, Sandra Anne Overton of Pikeville, Betty Brown of Princeton and John Robert Brown of Grantham; his sisters, Hilda Green of Lufkin, Texas, and Annie Ruth Martin of Grantham; his grandchildren, Jonathan Brown, Ashley Whitfield, Joshua Overton, Noah Overton, Candace Bunn and Christopher Brown; and his great-grandchildren, Caiden Parrish and Nathan Parrish.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory for his daughter, Sandra Anne, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834 or to Highest Praise Tabernacle, 4138 West U.S. 70 Highway, Princeton, N.C. 27569.

The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
