JAMES H. ADAMS

James "Jim" Howard Adams, 75, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Jim was born in Flint, Mich., to the late Omer Adams and Corrinne Ligen Adams. He was a retired superintendent with the City of Goldsboro garage. A U.S. Navy veteran, Jim was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 141 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the 82nd Airborne earning his Paratrooper Wings and Glider Wings. In 1954, Jim joined the U.S. Navy Seabees and served in Vietnam. While serving his country, he earned the Purple Heart, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Vietnam Ribbon with three stars among others.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors. The Rev. Jackie Hill will officiate.

Jim is survived by his wife, Polly Hilbun Adams; his sons, Keith Adams and special friend, Angilee, of Mount Olive, Rodney Adams and wife, Teresa, and Denis Adams and wife, Robin, all of Fremont; his sister, Onna Elmy of Grayling, Mich.; his brother, Dale Adams of San Diego, Calif.; his grandchildren, Christy Strickland, Dale Adams, Heather Hinson, Jesse Adams, Lee Adams and Amanda McNally; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
