BELLMORE, N.Y. -- Ruthel Monk Richardson, 68, of 1403 Newbridge Road, formerly of Duplin County, died Wednesday in New York. She was born in Duplin County to the late William and Mattie Southerland Monk. She was a retired teacher with the New York City school system.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Warsaw. Interment will follow in the Monk Family Cemetery in Magnolia.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by two daughters, Vertrena Ruth Shelby Richardson Matthews of Bellmore, N.Y., and Mattie Udora Richardson of Austin, Texas; three brothers, Harry Lee Monk of Goldsboro, Thomas Edward Monk of New York and Julius Monk of Warsaw; four sisters, Carrie Mangum of Goldsboro, Martha Heyward of Warsaw, Lillian Reid Keach of Magnolia and Ellen Beatrice Boney of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Kevin Allen Matthews, Michael Daniel Matthews and Marcus Tyler Matthews; and one great-grandchild, Makayla Rose Matthews.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Warsaw.
