Leo Thomas Sr., 62, of 105 Westwood Drive, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning at his home surrounded by his family.

Leo was born in Jones County to the late Charlie Thomas and Fleter Stanley Thomas. He was the owner and operator of Thomas Guns and Knifes and had formerly owned and operated Thomas Service Center, both in Goldsboro. Leo was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. He was an avid antique tractor collector and was a member of the Eastern Carolina Antique Tractor Club. Leo was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Rex Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Leo is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Faye Johnson Thomas; his children, Leo Thomas Jr. and wife, Melanie, Leland Thomas, Teresa Thomas Hackett, Larry Thomas and wife, Sarah, all of Goldsboro; a special son, Jay Hartzog of Goldsboro; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice Tanner of Houston, Texas and Linda Stanley of Deep Run; his brothers, Andrew Thomas of Kinston, McKinley Thomas and wife, Christine, of Kinston and Danny Thomas of Granada Hills, Calif; and his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Thomas, Margaret Daniels, Joyce Griffin and Doris Arnold.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.

The Wayne County Sheriff Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers for the service.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
