WILLIAM D. KEARNEY

July 21, 1931-Oct. 28, 2007

William D. "Bill" Kearney, 76, of 244 N.C. Highway 111 South, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Bill was born in Greene County to the late William Kearney and Carrie Wade Kearney. He was the owner and operator of W.D. Kearney Construction in Goldsboro for many years. Bill was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge No. 112 A.F. & A.M., the Goldsboro Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 139, and the Moose Lodge. He served in the N.C. National Guard for 16 years.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with Rick Pridgen officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lorraine Grant Kearney; his sons, Rex Kearney of Goldsboro and Michael Denny Kearney of Goldsboro; his sisters, Carol Lanaville, Ruby Barker and Sarah Kearney, all of Goldsboro; and his brothers, Paul Kearney of Newport News, Va., and Wade Kearney of Goldsboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Cox.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service and other times at his home.
