KINSTON -- The Rev. Daniel M. Forbes Jr., 79, of 2811 Tomlyn Drive, died early Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
A service of thanksgiving for his life will be held Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, U.S. Highway 70 East, Kinston, with the Rev. Vito Bisogno officiating, and will include Masonic funeral rites. Immediately following the service, visitation with the family will be at the church, and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
The Rev. Forbes, a native of Camden County, was a retired minister with the United Methodist Church. Locally, he had served as pastor of the Rones Chapel and Bethel United Methodist Churches, both of the rural Mount Olive area. He was a Mason, a member of the York Rite bodies and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Nell Davis Forbes; a brother, Wilford F. Forbes; and his parents, Daniel Mercer Forbes Sr. and Mary Ferebee Forbes, he is survived by his wife, Louise Stallings Dawson Forbes of the home; a son, Wilford Forbes of Belvidere, N.C.; a daughter, Christine F. Blaylock of Kinston; three stepsons, Forrest Dawson and Wiley Dawson, both of LaGrange, and William Dawson of Kinston; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
