David Rudolph "Rudy" Best, 66, of 866 Rosewood Road, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at the home of his son.

Rudy was born on Jan. 2, 1941, in Wilson County to the late Rudolph Best and Bertha Privette Best. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a retired car salesman. Rudy was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Vernon Braswell and Thurman Horney officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Rudy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David Timothy and Lisa Best of Goldsboro; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Tony Coble of Goldsboro and Linda and Maurice DuBois of Goldsboro; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Donny and Jerrie Best of Greenville and Edgar and Linda Best of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Candice Best, Casey Best and Jessica Grant; his great-granddaughter, Sydney Cloutier; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Tony Coble, 102 Silver Fox Circle, Goldsboro.
