ALENE O. TORRANS

WILSON -- Alene Outlaw Torrans, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007.

Mrs. Torrans, born in Duplin County, is predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Nora Kornegay Outlaw; brothers, Remus Jennings Outlaw, Eugene Raeford Outlaw; and sister, Irene Outlaw Price. Married for 51 years, she was the widow of Kenneth Ray Torrans, who died in February, 2000.

She graduated from B. F. Grady High School and Campbell University, then Campbell College. She did administrative work in the textile industry for several years after college.

An active member of the First United Methodist Church since moving to Wilson in 1954, she especially valued her years as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the Vanguard Class. Other interests included her flowers, vegetable gardens and baking.

Funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Surviving is her daughter, Betsy T. Douglass of Raleigh; sisters, Joyce O. Tyndall and husband, William, of Kinston and Opal O. Smith of Kinston; brother, Rommie A. Outlaw and wife, Eula Mae, of Mount Olive, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, N., Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.
