JOSEPHINE S. THIGPEN

Died Sept. 24, 2007

PINK HILL -- Josephine Smith Thigpen, 95, 1281 Sumner Road, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, N.C. Mrs. Thigpen was a member of Sandy Plains F.W.B. Church and a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill" Thigpen; her parents, Robert Allen and Minnie B. Smith; her sister, Gladys Stroud; her brothers, Willie Smith, Clifton Smith and Herman Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at Sandy Plains F.W.B. Church with the Rev. David Smith officiating. The family received friends Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pink Hill Funeral Home.

Survivors include four sons, Edward H. Thigpen and wife, Beth, of Deep Run, Robert Earl Thigpen and wife, Carolyn, of Pink Hill, Millard Elwood Thigpen and wife, Pat, of Goldsboro, and Hollis Eugene Thigpen and wife, Sandy, of Snow Hill; six grandchildren, Kay Whitley and husband, John, Darrell Thigpen and wife, Betty J., Tiffany Thigpen and husband, Johnny, all of LaGrange, Todd Thigpen and wife, Jessica, of Roxboro, Rebecca King and husband, Darryl, of Rose Hill and Jeffrey Thigpen and wife, Amy, of Hampstead; eight great-grandchildren, Johna-than Whitley, Tracy Thigpen, Tanner Wilson, Emma Thig-pen, Elijah Thigpen, Evan King, Meredith King and Christopher Thigpen.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sandy Plains F.W.B. Church Building Fund c/o Karen Kennedy, 706 Church Road, Pink Hill, N.C. 28572.

Arrangements are being handled by Pink Hill Funeral Home of Pink Hill.
