James L. Hines Jr., 81, 3850 New Hope Church Road, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, with the Revs. Paul Rose, Ray Smith and Ernest Mason officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Hollingsworth-Hines Family Cemetery in Turkey.
Mr. Hines, a native of Sampson County, was the son of the late James L. Hines and Robera Powell Hines. He was an army veteran, a member of New Hope Baptist Church, and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Esther F. Hines of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James "Jimmy" L. and Sherry Hines III of Turkey; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Kenn Hudson of Goldsboro; and a sister, Roberta H. Rush of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon following the service at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
