Elbert "Possum" Stanley, 52, of Hwy. 301 S., Four Oaks, died Thursday, Sept. 6 at Pitt Memorial Hospital. He was born in Harnett County on Nov. 17, 1954 to the late B.D. and Ava Capps Stanley. Funeral will be today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Minshew Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Keene officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Church Cemetery.
Surviving are daughters, Teresa Lynn Thompson of Dunn, Kathie Long of Benson and Julie Stanley of Goldsboro; sons, Ricke Jackson of Meadow, Joey Stanley and Donny Elbert Stanley, both of Goldsboro; sisters, Lorraine Wilkins, Barbara Ann Allen, Evelyn McLamb and Kathie Stanley, all of Four Oaks; brothers, Gilbert Stanley, Danny Stanley, both of Four Oaks and Wilbur Stanley of High Point; and eight grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made towards the funeral.
The family received friends at Minshew Funeral Home Saturday from 6-8 p.m.
