Julia Braswell Rowe Newsome, 96, of 1200 Franklin St., died at Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston, N.C.
She was born to the late Julia and Sarah Braswell Newsome and departed this life on Saturday. Later she married the late Ivory Braswell. From this union they had 10 children. After Mr. Ivory Braswell's death, she married the late Thomas Newsome.
James Lee Braswell, Pennia Coley and Ivory Ray Braswell, all predeceased her.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, N.C. Interment will follow in Green Cemetery, Fremont, N.C. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home. A wake will be held, Thursday evening, Aug. 23, 2007, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. with the family present to receive friends and other family members.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Mary Edmundson of Baltimore, Md., Julia Ward of Goldsboro, N.C., Bertha Collins of Baltimore, Md., Leroy Braswell and Elroy Braswell of New York City, N.Y., Jimmie Ray Braswell and Willard Braswell of Baltimore, Md.; four daughters-in-law, Judy Charlotte of New York City, N.Y.; Betty and Pamela Braswell of Baltimore, Md.; three sons-in-law, Haiddie Edmundson, Lane Collins of Baltimore, Md., and the late Sulvan and George Coley.
