ELLEN L. O'BERRY

Ellen Lewis O'Berry, 98, formerly of Goldsboro, died on Tuesday at Penick Village in Southern Pines.

Ellen was born in Rocky Mount to the late James Spencer Lewis and Mildred Dortch Lewis. She was married to the late Thomas O'Berry. Ellen was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church of Goldsboro and the Wayne County Committee of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday at Willow Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Carpenter presiding. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Penick Village.

Ellen is survived by her sister, Elizabeth D. Lewis of Goldsboro and Southern Pines; and her nieces and nephews, James S. Lewis III of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Mildred D. Lewis of Pinehurst, Caroline L. Miles of Pittsboro, and John D. Lewis Jr. of Goldsboro.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her brothers, James Spencer Lewis Jr. and John D. Lewis.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Goldsboro, N.C.
