James Elwood Best, 74, 705 Norwood Ezzell Road, died Tuesday at his residence. Born in Wayne, he was the son of the late James and Julia Best. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corene Best.
Seven children survive.
Funeral will be 7 p.m. tonight in the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel of Goldsboro, with the Rev. Paul Rose and the Rev. Ken Powell officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in Wilson Family Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
