RONALD R. EASON
SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. -- Ronald Reid Eason, 64, was born in Elizabeth City, N.C., and raised in Mount Olive, N.C. where he was a member of the First Baptist Church and graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1961. He attended N.C. State University and was a member of the Wolfpack marching band. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Wood, he joined the U. S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. After his tour of duty, he returned to the Goldsboro, N.C., area, working at Wayne Electric Company, but in 1974 moved to the Greenville, S.C. area to eventually start his own industrial contracting business, Century 3, Inc. He was especially fond of the Outer Banks, photography, antique cars, collecting and restoring John Deere tractors, and sailing. Reid was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron.
Son of the late Paul and Nancy Eason of Mount Olive, Reid is the son-in-law of Frances Wood and the late Otis Wood, also of Mount Olive.
In addition, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Wood Eason; a sister, Barbara E. Martin and husband, Steve; sister-in-law, Donna Wood Berkley, and husband, Arch; sister-in-law, Mary R. Wood. His brother-in-law, Jimmy Wood, predeceased him. Also surviving are nephews, Brian Martin, Ty Martin, Matthew Dumas, Brian Wood, Michael Wood, and several great-nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones, especially his cocker spaniel, Maggie-Mae.
The family will be at the home of Mrs. Frances Wood, 701 Steele Street in Mount Olive, on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday , August 16, at Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro, N.C. with the Rev. Tony Gurganus and Dr. Dennis Atwood officiating.
