Annie Byerly Buie, 76, of Rudolph Street, Goldsboro, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital after declining health.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Randy Foster. Burial will follow in the Greer's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Buie was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Davidson County to John Henderson Byerly and Mae Cope Byerly. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother and loving sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elwood Buie Sr.; and a son, James Elwood Buie Jr.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Farris Buie of Dudley, and Jonathan Buie of Goldsboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Shirley Byerly of Thomasville; sisters, Sandra Wampler and Arlene Weaver of China Grove; four stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Arlene Weaver, Weaver Road, China Grove.
