MCLEANSVILLE -- Hattie D. Sampson, of 4898 Northcross Way, died Monday at Moses Cone Hospital.

She was a native of Edgecombe County and was a resident of Wayne County for the majority of her life before relocating to Guilford County in 1985. Mrs. Sampson was a retiree of O'Berry Center and was a faithful member of Elm Grove Church of Christ, Pikeville, where she served with senior choir and Willing Workers.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the Elm Grove Church of Christ, Pikeville, N.C. with the Rev. Kenneth Vaughn and Rev. Warner Bell presiding. Interment will follow in the family plot of Elmwood Cemetery, Goldsboro, N.C. Her remains will be placed instate one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. The family visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 115 Holderby St., Reidsville, N.C.

Survivors are one daughter, Bessie Sampson Bell and spouse, the Rev. Warner Bell, of the home; four grandchildren, Warren Bell, De Lana Bell, Cory Bell, Antone Sampson and spouse, Erica; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Pitt of Pinetops, N.C. and Beatrice Cuffee of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Jesse Williams and spouse, Hazel, of Richmond, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Christine Sampson of Goldsboro and Meta Sampson of Warsaw, N.C.; other relatives and many cherished friends.

On Friday, July 13, 2007, a viewing will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro.
