MASTER SGT. NORMAN PENNINGTON

Master Sgt. Norman Pennington, Retired U.S.A.F., 73, of 2011 Azalea Drive, died Thursday morning at his home.

Norman was born in White Top, Va., to the late Ed Pennington and Stella Riffey Pennington. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years which included service during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After his military career, he worked with APV Baker and with Firestone in Goldsboro. Norman was a member of Oak Forest Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Oak Forest Church of Christ with Robert Goff and Lennie Reagan officiating. A funeral will also be on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at White Top Baptist Church in White Top, Va. Burial will follow in the Pennington Family Cemetery with full military honors.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian M. Pennington; his children, Ronald Pennington of Memphis, Tenn., Donald Pennington of Pikeville, Michael Pennington of Goldsboro, Michele Pennington of Pine Level and William Pennington of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Wade, Ross, Heath, Tyler, Alan, Matthew, Dustin, Chris, Will, Gage, Dalton, Kayla, Jacob, Alex, Melissa, and Anthony Pennington; and his great-grandchildren, Michael Dalton and Haley Pennington. He is also survived by his brothers, the Rev. T.A. Pennington of White Top, Va., Roger Pennington of Roanoke, Va., Fairley Pennington of Deerborn, Mich., and Larry Pennington of White Top; and his sister, Leona Weaver of Lansing.

Memorials may be made to Oak Forest Church of Christ, 2705 North Park Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or to the American Cancer Society, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.

The family will receive friends Saturday at Oak Forest Church of Christ following the service and other times at his home. The family will also greet friends Monday, July 9, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at White Top Baptist Church, White Top, Va.
