EUREKA -- Peggy Davis Martin, 70, of 201 S. Church St., died Friday at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Nelson Baptist Church in Eureka, with interment following in the Eureka Cemetery. The Rev. Clyde Johnson will officiate.
Mrs. Martin was a retired teacher with the Wayne County school system and a long-time member of Mount Nelson Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Gary Penrod; her sons, William A. "Billy" Martin IV and Jonathan C. Martin and his wife, Wendy, all of Eureka; a brother, Billy Ray Davis of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Brenda Carol Herring of Duplin County; and two grandchildren, Alyssa Penrod and Haley Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. "Bill" Martin III; her parents, Sammy R. and Nettie B. Davis; and a brother, Robert Mitchell "Tinker" Davis.
A visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St., Fremont.
