JACK L. HERRITT

Jack Loren Herritt, age 82, of 3735 E. Ash St., died Saturday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Born in Jersey Shore, Pa., he was the son of the late James Harold and Elizabeth Irene Cooney Herritt and husband of the late Betty Herritt.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in France and Ger-many. He also worked in the Civil Service as a painter.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dock Hobbs. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Herritt is survived by a son, Ray Herritt and wife, Brenda, of Goldsboro, N.C.; two daughters, Carol Herring of Dudley and Joyce Carnley and husband, Frank, of Goldsboro, N.C.; one brother, Fred Herritt of Florida; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family members will greet friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Ray Herritt, 101 Tindale Place, Goldsboro.
