JANICE B. CARTER

May 8, 1944 - June 9, 2007

Janice Barbour Carter, 63, died Saturday at SunBridge of Mount Olive. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late James and Cleo Blackmound Barbour, and was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Carter. A member of Emmaus Baptist Church, she was also a charter member of the Arrington Volunteer Fire Deptartment Ladies' Auxhiliary.

A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating. Burial will be in Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk funeral home.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Tripplet of Dudley; two sons, Joseph and James Carter, both of Dudley; two sisters, Violet Wise of Dudley and Edna Hedgepeth of Prince George, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park, Goldsboro.
