M. WENDELL WEEKS

April 19, 1916-May 29, 2007

MOUNT OLIVE -- Marvin Wendell Weeks, 91, of 230 Bert Martin Road, died Tuesday morning at his home.

This Harnett County native was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II during which he was a Prisoner of War and was recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a retired mail carrier with the Mount Olive Post Office.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from Salem Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Richard Hathaway officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Lane Weeks of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Kennon and Sue Weeks of Mount Olive; two grandchildren, Betsy W. Gollick and husband, Allen, of Jacksonville, and Erin K. Weeks of Kinston; a great-grandson, Tanner Kenly Gollick; a sister and brother-in-law, Grace W. and W. E. Jackson of Dunn; and two sisters-in-law, Uel Weeks of Dunn and Stella Weeks of Mount Holly.

Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his parents, Kennon S. and Ila Bryant Weeks; two sisters, Mayme Brantley and Eva Lou Weeks; and five brothers, Henry Weeks, Walter Weeks, Shore Weeks, Percy Weeks, and Aticus Weeks.

The family would like to thank the following for their untiring efforts in caring for their loved one: Judy Thompson, Roy Thompson, Michael Hayes, Janet Lewis, and Reascha Atkinson.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at Tyndall Funeral Home and at other times the family will be at the residence.
